Yes, we now officially have livestock. We are the 'proud' owners of one cow, one dog and 7 chicks. I am starting to feel a little overwhelmed at the prospect of being responsible for the health and well being of so many animals. Right now the chicks are in a cardboard box on our front porch with a grate of some sort on top. We also have a cow that may have a calf come october or november. (DH just informed me that it is more likely to be november or december).

How Fun! Don't get too overwhelmed...since animals are a lot of fun. We only had cats and dogs while the children were growing up. Then got into the cattle, I guess when they were around 8 or 9. And the kiddos love them. I always hated to fool with bottle calves...but Kent and Crystal loved them. And they do teach responsiblity. The only problem was with Crystal, we seemed to spend more time in the calves pen, then in the house learning too cook! But I don't think she minded to much back then! lol
